Everyone, at some point in life, questions why they do what they do. Sometimes they do things even when they don’t want to do those things. Sometimes those things are trivial and not a real bother, or those things can be preventing them from being how they want to be. We deal with the latter…
“Why do I get so nervous when meeting new people?”
“Why can’t I stop thinking about that thing she said?”
“How can I stop worrying all the time?”
We are taught that if we only have enough willpower we can change anything about ourselves. Or enough faith, or desire, if we really really wanted it badly enough we could suck it up and make it happen. However…
There is no evidence that anyone truly knows how it is for anyone else. That’s why generalities like ‘you just don’t want it badly enough’ and other such advice may work for some people, but certainly not for everyone. And by ‘work’ I mean life as YOU define it.
What is it that makes habits so hard to change? What is it that makes you ‘you’? How do we truly ‘change our mind’?
That is what this work is about. Assisting others who desire to change something, but that haven’t been able to make the change last. There is some unwanted personal condition that is present.
Let’s look at that phrase in more detail just so we’re clear about what that means.
Unwanted means just that, something to which a person objects.
Example: “I want to stop feeling nervous all the time for no reason.” So ‘feeling nervous all the time for no reason’ is unwanted.
Personal means that it is related directly to the person.
Example: We can’t address a problem with politics in Washington. But we can address how the politics in Washington are making a person feel.
Condition is something that a person can give a name.
Example: “I get the black-footed-collywobbles every time I hear that song.” It’s not important that anyone else knows what ‘black-footed-collywobbles’ means. It means something specific to this person, and that is good enough to address it.
There Is No Reason To Suffer
Resolving unwanted personal conditions is very straightforward, and requires nothing of anyone but you. Everything you need to accomplish this seemingly large feat you already possess. You may need a little help seeing what you need to see, and that’s where I come in. I’ll help you look, and nothing more.
What I DON’T do…
No advice is offered. No words of wisdom or special insights from me to you. No special interpretations or translations or meanings will be provided. I give no directives or suggestions of any kind, including one that might tell you that you should do this work at all. If you decide to do it, I promise to do my level best to help you take a look, and nothing more, and that’s really important. (see ‘Additives’) There are plenty of folks out there that will happily tell you things you should or could do, and the reasons they think you are the way you are, the hidden meaning of feelings or pain, what next steps will help you, the list is endless really. I will give you none of that.
You’re welcome.
You don’t need anyone to tell you what is right for YOU. There are plenty of resources out there that are happy to tell you that you don’t have what you need, that confirm a feeling that something is missing, and that make all sorts of offers and proclamations explaining why you need their advice, therapies, treatments, etc. There is none of that here.
I will help you see that which you already possess that can help you resolve for yourself and to your satisfaction some unwanted condition that you want to address. That is all. There are no next steps or roadmaps or goals offered here.
Most people find that what I do is easy, fast, and extremely effective. Some people have resolved issues that they had struggled with for many years in minutes. There is no ‘standard’ session length, and while we typically schedule an hour, most sessions are shorter. We work until you are satisfied that we’re finished, and we stop.
OK, that said, let’s look at the ‘fighting with your mind’ part…
Many folks I’ve worked with over the years (over 20 years now) have described many seemingly different unwanted conditions as ‘fighting with my mind’ because that’s how it felt for them. This is understandable because at the root of all unwanted conditions is some decision or rule that *they themselves* put in place, that is in conflict with some other decision or rule that *they themselves* also put in place. The rub is that many of these rules are no longer obvious to the person. What I do is to help them see what they put there. They can do or not-do whatever they wish with all that, it’s the seeing of it that gets the job done.
